capabilities in the plant-based industry, especially in the application
of cutting-edge technologies (e.g. precision technologies, including
biotechnology), allows the introduction of its latest concept, "THE
BIOTECH FACILITY DESIGNERS". This is a one-stop center, providing
total solution for all "your own" biotech facility requirements
by a consortium of the best experts in their respective fields.
The following are some of the services provided,
which are critical for the development of any (plant) biotech-based
industry:

Detailed description of the various sectors Terra
Garden Biotech is able to provide planning, programming and management
services are as follows:
1. Design, supervision & construction of (biotechnology) laboratories:

All biotech-based R&D or commercial activity
requires laboratory space. The overall and specific layouts of laboratories
are vital in ensuring smooth work flow and efficient (and effective)
utilisation of space. Terra Garden Biotech has vast experience in
the design and construction of various types of laboratories (both
for R&D and commercial application).
2. Design and fabrication (or manufacture) of laboratory accessories:
Laboratory layout plans should be carefully drafted, with due consideration
to the layout and design of the necessary equipments and lab-fitting.
However, some of the accessories may require custom-designing, to
suit the individual operation needs, and this is our speciality.
Through our network of manufacturers and suppliers, Terra Garden
Biotech has access to a wide variety of custom-designed accessories
and solutions.
3. Laboratory work-flow management and staff training programmes:

The key to successful laboratory management is
in the drafting of a comprehensive work-flow programme, for the
entire laboratory, and/or for a specific section. Through these
work-flow programmes, one would be able to monitor and manage all
activities with great success. The next equally important issue
is staff training - adequate training is required to ensure profitable
production. Terra Garden Biotech has vast experience in work-flow
programming, laboratory management systems, as well as staff training.
4. Design & construction of Smart tropical greenhouse system:

The failure of many R&D programmes under greenhouse
conditions in the humid-tropics can be attributed to the harsh environment
(high temperatures & high humidity) within tropical greenhouses.
Therefore, through the development of suitable tropicalised greenhouse
systems, suitable environments can be created for successful evaluation
of R&D products under controlled conditions. Terra Garden Biotech
is proud to be the first in Malaysia to develop its own uniquely
designed "Smart Tropical Greenhouse System" utilising the equally
unique EcoCool climate control system.
5. Design & construction of Tropical GMO containment greenhouses:

All R&D and commercial activities related to
the production and/or development of genetically modified organisms
(GMO) would require (by law) to be tested, evaluated and monitored
under strictest conditions of confinement. Therefore, to evaluate
GMOs, there is an absolute need for the development of tropicalised
GMO containment greenhouse systems. Again, Terra Garden Biotech
is proud to be the first in the country to have developed its own
uniquely designed "GMPlant Containment Greenhouse" with a built-in
gene-analysis facility; a project supported by the Ministry of Science,
Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia.
6. Design & construction of tropicalised TC-plant weaning systems:

Plant tissue culture techniques (especially micropropagation)
are now routinely applied for the mass production of elite crop
plants for value added agricultural and horticultural crops. However,
the success of all/any mass propagation system very much depends
on a highly efficient weaning system. This is necessary to
acclimatise the delicate plantlets to the harsh (outside) environment,
prior to field planting. Terra Garden Biotech, jointly with FRIM,
is the first to successfully design and construct an effective and
efficient tropicalised weaning system for acclimatising tissue-cultured
plants.
7. Design & construction of commercial and showcase growing
facilities:

The success of any plant based industry is often
associated with the availability of an efficient and effective growing
environment. Such facilities, not only have to be operationally
effective, but also requires the element of show-casing to portray
an image of a professional industry player. In this aspect, Terra
Garden Biotech fortunately (through its association within the Terra
Garden Group of Companies) leads the development of both "show-case"
and "commercial" growing facility".
8. Design & construction of showcase (botanical) gardens:

The greatness of Malaysia's biodiversity can only
be realised if collected, nurtured, propagated and made available
for further investigation, and R&D activities. The importance
of these valuable assets can only be fully realised through proper
presentation (or if grown in a show-case garden, e.g. like in the
Kew Gardens, of the United Kingdom). Again, Terra Garden Biotech,
(through its association with Terra Garden Sdn. Bhd., the founders
of the Malaysian concept garden, called "Neo Nusantara" and the
creators of design gardens) is capable of designing and constructing
protected botanical gardens.
9. Development of specific functional food (from
rainforest botanicals):
The wealth of our biodiversity can only be realised
if it is used in a sustainable manner towards the development of
value added products, such as functional food additives to address
specific human (health) disorders. Terra Garden Biotech, through
its sister company, RainForest Botanics Sdn Bhd, is proud to be
involved in a strategic programme with the University of Massachusetts
(USA), in the development of functional food as well as herbal remedies
(including, but not limited to drug development) from selected botanicals
from our rainforest.
10. Instant Tissue-culture Lab & Weaning System Design and
Commission
A mobile standalone micropropagation facility that allows you to
conduct R&D, and commercial plant production on the go, almost
anywhere, almost immediately.
Our main objective of the Instant TC Lab is to
provide a total solution for start-up companies in the plant-based
industry's mass propagation sectors, i.e. to create leaders in the
production of high quality, superior planting stocks for forest
plantation programmes, and modern agriculture.
